Inguinal Hernia Mesh complications
motivation
There are several risk factors that correlate with the failure of inguinal hernia meshes such as the way the meshes are woven, the chemical composition of the implant, as well as age, gender, obesity and smoking. Another important factor involved in the formation of scar tissue is the mechanical mismatch of the mesh with the surrounding tissue. This depends on the mechanical properties of the mesh implant, but also the anatomy of the patient.
Problem definition
Can you make a Digital Twin that is able to make a correlation between the pain complaints of patients with an inguinal hernia mesh and the properties of the meshes or of the patients themselves, and which can be used by notified bodies to assess implant safety?
